How Long Does a Home Addition Take?expand_more

Most home additions take between 4 and 9 months of active construction, depending on size, complexity, and whether the addition involves structural changes to the existing home. Smaller bump-outs sit on the shorter end, while full second-story or multi-room additions take longer.

Design, permits, and engineering typically add several months before construction begins. 

How Much Does a Home Addition Cost?expand_more

Home additions with Skor typically range from $80,000 to $400,000 and up, depending on size, structural complexity, and finish level.

Second-story additions and full primary suite additions land at the higher end because of the structural and roof work involved, while bump-outs and smaller additions sit lower. Every proposal includes design, permits, labor, and materials. 

Can We Live in the House During an Addition?expand_more

In most cases, yes. Additions are usually built on the outside of the home, so the existing living space stays largely intact during construction.

There may be short stretches where dust, noise, or utility shutoffs create disruption, especially when the new space ties into the existing structure, and we plan those phases carefully so you know what to expect.

We match rooflines, siding, window styles, trim profiles, and interior finishes so the new space reads as part of the original home. The goal is for guests to walk through your home a year later and not be able to tell which part was added.

Our Design-Build Process

1 | Plan

It starts with a quick discovery call and an in-person visit, where we walk the space, talk through what you want, and pressure-test ideas against your budget. Within about a week, we send a written investment range so you can decide whether to move forward before anyone designs in a vacuum.

2 | Design/Proposal

We move into paid design with our architect and interior design partners, producing real floor plans, 3D renderings, and guided selections for finishes and materials. We coordinate the trades and handle permitting, then close with a detailed, fixed-price construction proposal covering scope, allowances, and schedule.

3 | Build

With your approval, we start construction, led by a dedicated project manager with weekly check-ins, so you always know what's happening and what's next. You leave with a finished space, a written workmanship warranty, and a real human to call if anything needs attention down the road.
