DESIGN-BUILD REMODELS FROM SKOR CONSTRUCTION'S PALATINE HEADQUARTERS
Skor Construction is based in Palatine, so we work here more than anywhere
Our office is at 19 E Northwest Hwy #1a, right downtown. We've done dozens of projects throughout Palatine: kitchens, bathrooms (the Palatine bathroom in our portfolio is one example), basements, and whole-home remodels in Fremont, near the Inverness border, in the Plum Grove area, and throughout the older neighborhoods near the Metra station.
The Palatine housing stock is mostly 1960s and 1970s with newer infill in Fremont and along the Inverness border. Mid-century ranches, classic splits, brick colonials. The layouts are dated, the primary baths are undersized, and the basements are usually unfinished. Most projects here run $70,000 to $400,000.
We're a design-build firm, 15 years in business, working from the Palatine office throughout the NW suburbs.
The Village of Palatine permit process
Palatine has a streamlined permit process with experienced inspectors who know the older housing stock. Standard residential permits run 3 to 5 weeks. Plumbing and electrical sub-permits are filed alongside the building permit. Structural changes require architect-stamped drawings.
We handle the permit submittal, inspections, and Village coordination through final walkthrough. Because we're based in Palatine, we're often able to walk submittals into Village Hall the same week design wraps up. Total pre-construction timeline including design and permits: 8 to 12 weeks for a typical kitchen or bath project.
Bathroom Remodeling in Palatine, IL
Our Palatine bathroom project (Project 8 in our portfolio) involved a 1970s primary bath remodel with a full layout rework: original tub and shower came out, the new layout incorporated a walk-in shower with custom tile and frameless glass, a freestanding soaking tub, heated floors, a double vanity with custom cabinetry, and built-in storage that doubled the original. Tile selections were chosen to brighten the space (most original Palatine baths suffer from inadequate natural light).
Kitchen remodels and basement build-outs round out the most common Palatine work. Primary bath remodels here typically run $30,000 to $150,000. Kitchens $70,000 to $200,000. Whole-home remodels $200,000 to $400,000. Bathroom remodeling, kitchen remodeling, basement finishing, and home additions.
Palatine remodeling FAQs
The questions we hear most often from homeowners in Palatine and the surrounding Northwest suburbs and North Shore.
- How long does a Palatine remodel take?expand_more
-
Bathroom remodels run 6 to 10 weeks of construction. Kitchen remodels 10 to 14 weeks. Whole-home projects 5 to 9 months. Village permits typically take 3 to 5 weeks. Total timeline from contract to walkthrough: 12 to 18 weeks for a primary bath, longer for a kitchen or whole-home project.
- What does a Palatine remodel cost?expand_more
-
Primary bath remodels $30,000 to $150,000. Kitchen remodels $70,000 to $200,000. Basement finishes $55,000 to $250,000. Whole-home renovations $200,000 to $400,000. Additions $80,000 to $750,000 depending on size and structural complexity.
- Have you done projects in Fremont or near the Inverness border?expand_more
-
Yes. Fremont and the homes near the Inverness border are frequent project areas. The Fremont side has newer infill builds (1990s-2000s) while the older Palatine neighborhoods have 1960s-70s housing stock. The work varies accordingly: newer homes need lifestyle upgrades, older homes need layout reworks.
- Can I stop by your Palatine office?expand_more
-
Our office is at 19 E Northwest Hwy #1a, downtown Palatine. We meet with prospective clients there, but most of our design work happens at your home during the in-person walkthrough phase. The office is appointment-based rather than walk-in.
- Do you do kitchens, bathrooms, and basements at the same time?expand_more
-
Yes. Combined projects are common: a Palatine kitchen plus primary bath, or a kitchen plus finished basement on the same timeline. Combining is more efficient on permitting, inspections, and trade scheduling than running projects as separate phases. Typical savings: 4 to 6 weeks of total timeline.
- What warranty do you offer on remodeling work?expand_more
-
1-Year Coverage covers defects in workmanship and materials for interior finishes (paint, drywall, trim, cabinetry, flooring, tile, caulking, sealants), fixtures, doors, and hardware, plus cosmetic work not covered under a longer term.
2-Year Coverage covers defects in workmanship for plumbing systems (supply and waste lines, fixtures, connections), electrical systems (wiring, outlets, switches, and lighting we install), and HVAC modifications or installations we perform.

Manufacturer warranties on appliances, fixtures, and materials pass through directly to you.
Our Design-Build Process
It starts with a quick discovery call and an in-person visit, where we walk the space, talk through what you want, and pressure-test ideas against your budget. Within about a week, we send a written investment range so you can decide whether to move forward before anyone designs in a vacuum.
We move into paid design with our architect and interior design partners, producing real floor plans, 3D renderings, and guided selections for finishes and materials. We coordinate the trades and handle permitting, then close with a detailed, fixed-price construction proposal covering scope, allowances, and schedule.
With your approval, we start construction, led by a dedicated project manager with weekly check-ins, so you always know what's happening and what's next. You leave with a finished space, a written workmanship warranty, and a real human to call if anything needs attention down the road.

Skor Construction is fabulous. I was looking for a general contractor for a home addition and renovations. Anton took the time to keep me posted and respected my time and budget. He conducted a home visit, spending hours talking about options, processes, and what to expect. His knowledge and understanding greatly impressed me. I would recommend Anton and his team 10 out of 10 times.
