ESTATE-SCALE REMODELS FOR NORTH BARRINGTON'S WYNSTONE AND BILTMORE HOMES
North Barrington homeowners aren't shopping price, they're shopping execution
The estate homes in Wynstone, Biltmore Country Club, and the larger lots throughout North Barrington don't have the same problems as 1960s splits. The kitchens are large, the primary suites are generous, the basements are usually finished. What homeowners want is execution at a level that matches the property: fully custom millwork, premium materials sourced specifically, and a project manager who returns calls the same day.
Skor Construction delivers at that level. We completed a whole-house remodel in North Barrington that involved kitchen, multiple baths, basement, and main-level layout work. Most projects here run $300,000 to $1M+ depending on scope. We're a design-build firm, 15 years in business, with experience navigating Wynstone HOA review and Village of North Barrington requirements.
Village permits plus Wynstone HOA review
The Village of North Barrington requires architect-stamped drawings for any structural work. Standard Village permits run 4 to 6 weeks. Homes inside Wynstone have additional HOA design review on top of Village permits, which adds 4 to 8 weeks. The Wynstone review focuses on exterior materials, roof line, window proportions, and how the work integrates with the existing home and neighborhood context.
We've worked through both processes. The HOA submittal includes detailed elevations, material samples, and renderings. Once HOA approval is in hand, Village permits follow. For interior-only work in Wynstone homes, the HOA review is shorter or skipped entirely. Plan on 10 to 16 weeks of pre-construction for a Wynstone exterior project.
What we build for North Barrington homeowners
Whole-home renovations are the most common project. Our North Barrington whole-house remodel involved updating the kitchen with fully custom cabinetry and a large quartzite island, redoing the primary bath as a true suite with walk-in shower and freestanding tub, finishing the basement with a wet bar and theater room, and refreshing flooring and trim throughout. Budget was in the $500,000+ range and the project took roughly 7 months.
Primary suite expansions, kitchen-only remodels, and basement build-outs are common. Wine cellars and home theaters are frequent basement requests. Most North Barrington kitchens run $150,000 to $300,000. Whole-home renovations $400,000 to $1M+. Kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, basement finishing, and home additions.

- Do you specialize in whole-house remodels?expand_more

Yes. Our North Barrington whole-house remodel is a representative example, and we've done substantial whole-home projects throughout the Barrington area. Whole-house work requires careful schedule coordination across multiple trades simultaneously and a project manager who can keep everything on the same timeline.
- Can I stay in the home during a whole-house remodel?expand_more

For projects of that scope, most clients move out for at least the demolition and rough-in phases. We typically work in phases that allow you to return to the home as different areas finish. Some clients stay throughout in a confined zone of the home. We talk through the options early.

Our Design-Build Process
It starts with a quick discovery call and an in-person visit, where we walk the space, talk through what you want, and pressure-test ideas against your budget. Within about a week, we send a written investment range so you can decide whether to move forward before anyone designs in a vacuum.
We move into paid design with our architect and interior design partners, producing real floor plans, 3D renderings, and guided selections for finishes and materials. We coordinate the trades and handle permitting, then close with a detailed, fixed-price construction proposal covering scope, allowances, and schedule.
With your approval, we start construction, led by a dedicated project manager with weekly check-ins, so you always know what's happening and what's next. You leave with a finished space, a written workmanship warranty, and a real human to call if anything needs attention down the road.
